* I find that I'm a much calmer driver when I deliberately remind myself over and over that I am generally easy-going when driving, it's that when there are assholes, I go from calm to eleven in seconds flat.  But I pay a lot of attention to this tendency, and I find I can calm myself down a bit faster.

Also, When I Learned To Drive™, I learned of the two-second rule, where you keep two seconds of space between you and the car in front of you.  Apparently, this morphed into the "two feet no matter what the speed" rule.  When I viewed that as the new way people do things, I got a bit calmer, too.  I don't goddamn do it, because augh, but I stopped viewing it as about me, and viewed it more as about people being complete maniacs, and that's better.

* Whoever recently posted about "Soap" has destroyed whole acres of potential productivity, or at least that's my claim.  I now know precisely why I always tried to watch "That 70s Show" and was always disappointed.

* Still major malefit to driving: AUGH MY HAND BURNS /rsi

* I forget.  Alas.

I've gotten sucked back into being busy, and my arms are kind of awful.  So if I am quiet cat, it's not personal.

I am going to fall over and die of being itchy.  Fall over.  And die.  Of being itchy.  *is dead*

So everything has an added 150% chance of being very irritating, and I just took a Benadryl so I'll stop scratching, and yet I'm going to pass out in a few minutes.  Fuck.

(I went to run my hands under some cold water.  The water that would run over my arms?  That specifically would splash a little bit over my arms?  Made my arms itch.  Not the water itself, rather the splashing.  *gnshghsjuwg*)

On the bright side, my arms are doing way better.  I'm trying to keep them that way.

* As always, I learn best through having projects.  I'm doing a bunch of tinkering to get this one website to do my bidding, so I'm learning a ton of PHP in the meantime.  This article on basic PHP security things seems not ungood, but it's from 2003, so I want to find something better.  (I need to, for example, block against SQL-based suck in the URL query string, this I know.)

If you have good links on basic-cat PHP (with MySQL) security things, this is the place for 'em.  Even if it's dirt-simple - I'm not an idiot, but I am a scatterbrain, and reminders are good.  Not to mention the part where I'm newish to PHP anyhow.

[eta] Fuck, I'm going to have to learn regex again.  *annoyed*

* My arms got betterish over the weekend, but they're starting to twinge, which means there's something about my work setup that's sub-par.  Alas.  It's probably the arms on this goddamn chair.  I'm trying to space typing out anyhow, just to be thorough, and I'm still not signed onto AIM.

* Part of yesterday was going to a friend's house for grilling.  Her roommate has the gardening bug, so she was raking and setting up a compost pile and digging a fire pit and so and so and so forth.  I wish I didn't kill plants through inattention, I would love to get a bit into container gardening - find some easy-to-grow vegetable that I like, and make that go.  Not necessarily for cooking, mostly just for the occasional munching-on.

I dunno, maybe if I set up reminders for watering...  *sad face*  This is why my loving kitties totally works - there's no set schedule of kitty-care.

* Blogspot has, by far, the shittiest commenting system known to thinking creatures.  Fucking hell.  And you'd think that with that in mind, third-party commenting systems (Disqus, IntenseDebate, Haloscan) would have, I dunno, options for importing Blogger comments.  And yet.  Fuckers.

What do you do when your arms hurt?

Not like "how to fix".  More like "dear god I'm bored forever".

- My arms feel like twisted bits of leather, and my hands feel like bruises.  I'm bored stupid at home, and have to do work at work, so I can hope this'll change... but...

- On the bright side, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is on Hulu, so I can watch that instead of knitting or typing more.  And maybe I'll just fill the sink with ice and soak my arms for a bit.  :P

- I'm now one of the co-mods of [community profile] knittingpix!  Nifty.

- I had wicked insomnia last night, and only got two hours of sleep.  I am woozy and vaguely ill.  *lists to starboard*

- Hey, free 12oz beverage from Borders coupon.

- I got that from this blog.  I am a total sucker for freebies.  Combination of free, small things, and being able to try something without buying it?  I'm so there.

- Oh hooray, I can get my 14-day pass from a machine!  So I don't have to rush to leave work in order to get to the office on time.  *phew*

"There are two kinds of knitters in the world:
the sort who, upon finding that their yarn has
become as tangled as a teenage love triangle, would
sooner chew off their own arm than enjoy untangling
it; and the kind who will take that same mess of a
knot and not just sort it out but take a lot of pleasure
in restoring order. I'm not saying which is the better
trait, but I do think that the knitting world could
benefit from some sort of registry that would help
them find each other."

I'm sure Ravelry has something for this.  I'm just as sure, if not more than sure, that I need to be in on it.  I'm the latter sort - untangling things makes me deeply happy.

Relatedly, there's this gigantic tangle of holy-crap bubble-gum-pink yarn that is demanding to know why I haven't made it into a thneed yet.  I'm working on it, I swear.

Just not today.  Arms are like my brain - given to spurts of doom, that pass quickly if I avoid related stimuli.  And yet I'm here!  Hm.

Oh man, ice.

Hands are doing better, but must avoid false hope.

(As in, "Better means good! Right?")

Hee, the wrists are itching.  Doofy things.

Today, further:

* I bought an ice pack.  I've been doing transcription stuff for [livejournal.com profile] rosefox, and it took me a day or two to realise that hey, my laptop != good, and my desktop == fantastic.  (I need to see if a keyboard with a USB-also plug can plug into a laptop and be useful.  That would be so win.)  I am icing my arm now, as it's lightly sore due to typing and also carrying heavy-ass groceries home.  I moved to my desktop, I got an ice pack, I took two ibuprofen to be clear, and I have wispy ideas of typing-to-resting ratios dancing in my head.  Nice.

* I bought banana chips, Just Cuz.

* I applied to ten jobs today, to make up for my week of hell when I could barely get out of bed.  (Fuck you too, the pill.)  And I have four more to apply to tomorrow, even before I job-shop.  And I didn't throw up.

* I walked nearly three miles today, just cuz.

* I hung my picture.  I am now much more pleased with my room, messy as it still kind of is.

* I bought pretty nail polish for like $1.
