Apparently this place is questionable at best. Thanks to [personal profile] starandrea for the update.

Alternative, that doesn't seem to suck:

Note: I am testing this Delicious Glue thing to get it to work like I want.  One thing it's not catching properly is the security; I want it private while testing, and it's not doing it.

It might be worthwhile to put me on not your default filter for today, just in case.

[eta] Why do I ever bother posting?  Seconds later, I find a line I forgot to uncomment.

Note: It really only just now sunk in that yes Virginia, there is a difference in Dreamwidth between reading and giving access to.  I'm still stuck in LJ-land, where in order to not read someone but not defriend them, I have to make a filter.

So!  If you got a note that I've stopped reading you, this is entirely because as far as I can tell, all of your posts are cross-posted to LJ, I'm on your flist on LJ, and you provide a link to your DW post.  I primarily read LJ, so I don't want to duplicate my reading efforts.

That was it!

[edit] Dear Captain Doofus: If these folk xpost all of their posts to LJ, what're the odds that they only read their LJ flist, too, and thus will not see this note?  Adurr?

*crossposts*

In case you wanted caps of the [livejournal.com profile] e_moon60 debacle + some comments, [livejournal.com profile] bloodparade caught them:

LJ-specific o'clock:

Please don't crosspost comments on posts of mine to your Intertwitterfaceblags, pls.

You might see me have a FB thingamadoodle on my profile for a bit, but that's temporary whilst I tweak my Profile Reset GM script.  (I hadn't taken all external-services options into account, apparently.)  I not only have no intention of crossposting a damn thing, I wrote a script to remove even accidental clickage.  So no worries.

--

Here's what you can do to hide the options for yourself:

* Go here.  (Journal > Journal Style > Customize > CSS.)

* Add this line: .b-repost-item { display: none; }

* Click Save Changes.

That, at least, will prevent you from accidentally selecting one of the options when you make a comment.  Also, it sets commenting back to "[type] [tab] [enter]" to post the comment, which is pleasant.

Alas, this only works for certain journal styles, and not for format=light so much.  To get it for all styles, including format=light, you'd probably want to put this into Stylish, instead.  Naturally, I'll be doing this in GM, because I also want to remove that whole row, because I don't care about the settings and I like cleanliness in my comment forms.

Of course, I have approx. a million gazillion GM scripts, so this is hardly shocking.

Stylish code. )

This kitty needs a home.  Her owner is dying, and the owner's caretaker is both fantastic and hospital-grade allergic to cats.  The kitty, Murph, is 14 years old, and is verra fluffeh.

This is around Baltimore, Maryland, US.

Pass it on.

Pet peeve: seeing this request reposted multiple elsewheres, with no indication as to where the cat currently lives.

I've gotten sucked back into being busy, and my arms are kind of awful.  So if I am quiet cat, it's not personal.

I've imported my [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha entries and comments into my Dreamwidth account.  After I do some spot-checking to make sure the data did import and accurately, I'll be deleting that account.

Now, tagging can occur.  Finally.

NOTE:

I am auctioning off a scarf, just like the one I just posted about.  Auction is here, and currently stands at $50.  Bidding closes at 23:59 Pacific, this Sunday.

If you want to bid, go now!
nonethefewer: (Default)
So apparently there's this thing, [livejournal.com profile] save_dave - an auction to help raise money for someone to not lose their home.  More information here.

I'm auctioning off a reversible knitted scarf, like the one I made for Josh.  Go bid!

(It occurs to me that it doesn't have to be sports-related.)

Also, go look through other things, like a custom song by [livejournal.com profile] filkertom, or Windows/hardware/networking IT assistance by [livejournal.com profile] vulgarcriminal, or CHEESECAKE BROWNIES by [livejournal.com profile] thegreenyear.  I swear, I'm going to have to write these folks' names down for future reference.
nonethefewer: (Default)
Please feel free to copy and publicize this far and wide!

What is this?

[livejournal.com profile] care_faith_hope is a fandom auction to benefit [livejournal.com profile] faithhopetricks. Bidding is now open; it closes on October 10, 2009, Saturday, 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.

What's the cause?

This auction is to raise money for the medical expenses of [livejournal.com profile] faithhopetricks and her husband. They have no health insurance and no savings, and her husband requires immediate heart surgery. Both have other potentially life-threatening conditions which have gone untreated or poorly treated due to their lack of health insurance. More detailed information is in the user info of [livejournal.com profile] care_faith_hope.

Some details have been left out for reasons of privacy. Please do not contact [livejournal.com profile] faithhopetricks to inform her of government assistance programs she can apply for. We are working on that. However, if you know of job openings for an IT professional in greater Seattle, her husband will be seeking a job as soon as he recovers.

How can I help?

You can bid on fanfic, original fic, vids, cookies, memorabilia, critique/betas, and much more! Or you can offer your skills and services as a writer, vidder, baker, knitter, or whatever else you'd like.

Current offers include homemade baked goods and candy, unique memorabilia from and a guided tour of the Jim Henson Company, books signed by the authors, vids and fanfic, and much more!

How do I bid?

This post has full information on bidding.

How do I offer an item or service?

1. Join the community via the user info page.

2. Make a properly tagged and headlined post. You can find the full list of tags here.

Please check the format of the tags before making up your own. Standardized tags help people find your offer. PLEASE TAG YOUR POSTS.

[livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling: Warning: eBay will be using photos without creators' permission.

"Well, starting on August 31st, eBay is going to institute a new policy where photos you upload to any listing are put into a "catalog" of online images that any eBay user can then use for their own listings. The default setting for this is opt-in, which is a problem if you, like me, consider your photographs your property and want to control how they are used and by whom. A copyright notice is posted with a link to your user profile, but no additional information is given, and the link is quite small.

Since the default setting is opt-in, and eBay has not sent messages out about this, a lot of people are going to be caught flat-footed by this new policy."

I can see the use for this policy, but I despise me some default opt-in, so.

Hooo, RaceFail '09.  I haven't said anything because I have been reading and reading and omg reading and ps reading.  If you want to (try to) catch up, see [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong's tag gcadod.  They've been collecting links like mad.  If someone has a good summary link, feel free to lemme know.

I have the cheap analogy in my head of racism issues to sexism issues.  So I think, in a similar situation involving misogynistic stuff, what would I want men to contribute?  Once I get past being twitchy about men writing on such things at all, I would want them to at least state that they don't tolerate such shenanigans around them, and that they're working on any crap they still have in their head.

(That last is absolutely an assumption that they still have crap in their head, because thanks be to society, most all of us do.  It's hardly gender-specific.)

So.

1) This journal, and any like thing I'm on, is not a space for -ism crap.  Racism, sexism, able-ism which I don't think is a word yet but whatever, and so forth.  This is not the place for it.  If I see it, I will call it out, if I am able.

2) This includes any crap that comes from my own mouth, seeing as how I am hardly perfect.  If you see me speaking such things, please call me on it.
