R/J have a Black & Decker drill, DR320KG.  The problem is that the chuck is missing two parts: the chuck retaining screw, and the clamping jaw.  I am only somewhat confident that I know what I'm talking about here.

Basically, look at this image.  On the very left is where one puts drill bits, between the jaw thing there.  This drill, which is the exact same model, doesn't have that.  And the manual refers also to a chuck retaining screw, that's screwed through the chuck into the spindle.  All this has is the chuck that goes onto the spindle; there's no screw or jaw.

So, I need to find a single-sleeve 3/8" capacity chuck replacement.  Can I do that without it needing to be the exact same brand?

The server here has multiple web apps installed, and for the most part it's fine.  However, I need to log into SQL Buddy*, which is a phpMyAdmin alternative that connects to MySQL.  My username in that is christina, and the password is Password1; my username in the invoicing app is Christina, and the password is Password2.  I cannot, for the life of me, get Firefox to stop autofilling long enough for me to &%$* log in.

* I'm testing phpMyAdmin alternatives, because I'm trying to not be mired in the internet dark ages all the time.  After the fifth time of "Clicking Edit opens a new window!", I got fed up.

I don't want to disable form autofill entirely, because it's useful elsewhere.  I don't even want to disable it for the domain, unless I have to, because useful.  I just want to be able to... treat form autofill like popup blockers -- I want to allow all popups from this site disable autofill on this page, that's all.

Halp?

--

[eta] See, I post this because I find answers seconds after I post things.  (Yay confirmation bias!)  I should edit the login page and disable autocomplete in the form element.  Still, if there is a way to do the above, that'd be fab.

--

[eta2] Except it doesn't fucking work.  I put autocomplete="off" in the form tag, as well as both the name and the password fields -- no fucking dice.

I don't even select an option!  Godfuckingdammit.

Also, while I'm thinking about it.

I don't speak music, so correction is very welcomed.  In a lot of rock-type music, the beat is... "on", for want of the right word.  As an example, "Peace of Mind", by Boston -- the beat is 4/4, and you can hear that the strongest beat of the four is "on-beat".

Compare with "Devil Went Down to Georgia, which so many karaoke folk get totally wrong, depending on alcohol levels.  The beat is an "off-beat".  (With the exception of the devil's part.)  They sing it on-beat, which is not what the song is.

Question 1:

When I say "on beat" and "off beat", what terms do I actually want?  If any?

Question 2:

There are some songs, and I'll only find an example two months after this post, where the beat exists first without the music to anchor it.  So I'll hear it as on-beat and will go along, but then the music picks up, and I realise it's an off-beat song, and I need to skip half a beat to get to where it should be.

Is there a name for that record-scratch moment?

I can find a name for the metal bit on a pencil that holds the eraser in place (ferrule), so there must be a name for the above.

I have a brief, bizarre question, borne of nothing I can remember:

In the movie Labyrinth, there is the big shaggy "smell baaad!" character, Ludo.

What is Ludo's gender?

It is time for an informal poll!  You can answer this for yourself, or in general, or both, I don't mind.

How do you react to this statement?:

"Being drunk turns me into someone I'm not."

(My opinion here.)

Incidentally, The King's Speech is a movie that I want to own the DVD copy of.  Apart from the first five minutes, which make my teeth crawl.  The movie is about a stammerer, and the first 3-4 minutes is of the stammerer addressing a stadium, and he never manages to say anything, though he does try.

But the rest of the movie is fantastic.  Josh and I found it to be an oh-that-person sorta film -- the second Dumbledore, Pettigrew or Beadle, Bellatrix Strange or Marla Singer, fucking Captain Barbossa hello, the guy from Memento, and the Professor from the end of the world in the 10th Doctor's Doctor Who.  Also, Colin Firth, who apparently has not yet become an oh-that-person in my head.

But regardless, I enjoyed the movie a great deal, and will probably purchase the DVD at some point, despite the embarrassment-squick-related horror-story opening.

In other news, I'm reading some free science fiction stuff that [livejournal.com profile] hitchhiker had posted a dog's age ago.  I'm slowly coming to realise why I don't really connect with this stuff (a major name in this genre is Doctorow, but it's really not just him) -- they're all boy's stories.  There are women in them, yes, but they're boy's stories.  I want to like them, because I don't dislike the genre, but meh.

In other other news, has anyone figured out why the RSS feed for Myth Adventures consistently displays for the day before?

A question, related to Dominion: Seaside.

Specifically, the Explorer card.  This card allows you to, when you play it, gain a silver if you reveal no Province card, and gain a gold if you do.

Say you've just played Bazaar, which gives you two actions.  On top of one branch, you play Explorer, reveal the Province card in your hand, and gain a gold.  On top of the second action branch, you play Explorer.

Since the card says reveal, not discard, can you play that card again?

Dumbass question:

In Google Contacts, I have Brad listed.  He has three email addresses -- one Gmail, one other, and one Gmail +gaming, for gaming.

I have a group in Gmail, "Gaming", which he's in.

How do I ensure that I only email the +gaming email address for him?

I use Delicious to manage my bookmarks.  My reasons:

* Yay tags.
* Yay bookmarks that are not bound to any one computer.
* Bonus, the Firefox addon stands in for the usual Ctrl-D behaviour, which is a win for me.

I don't really care about the social aspect of it, to be honest, and have never quite understood it to begin with.  (What the hell do I care that 502 other people have bookmarked this one thing, apart from that it might make it easier for me to find?)  Doesn't make it useless, mind, just not a criterion in my webapp shopping.

Should I move over to something else, like Google Bookmarks or Diigo?

There's a king-sized comforter here.  I'm considering the following:

* wash out the tub
* wash the comforter in the tub
* lay out towels on a card table
* put extras around the table
* wring out the comforter as best I can
* lay it out on the card table

Any problems with this plan?

Question:

Is there a guide to etiquette when it comes to MediaWiki extensions?

I found one that's mostly perfect, where I'd love to change it to be better, and yet the user hasn't been around for ages.  (About 2-3 years.)  This extension really needs changing, too.  I don't want to step on their toes, but I want a better version out there.

I am trying to go to this one website, and it is not displaying.

The support person says they have no record of me trying to connect. "Unfortunately, it looks like you may have a localized routing issue with your ISP, as there is no record of your IP attempting to contact the server during the time that you emailed this or for the time before that."

But, I can connect to the website via proxify.com.  I can't log in, naturally, but the page displays at all, which is more than I get when I try to connect normally.

...what do I do?

Where do I have to put a favicon for it to be picked up by MediaWiki (1.15)?

Steps:

* I put it in the main wiki folder.
* I edited /includes/DefaultSettings.php, to try each of these three paths for $wgFavicon:
** /favicon.ico
** /internal/path/to/favicon.ico
** http://www.url.url/mw-url/favicon.ico
* I edited LocalSettings.php, just to be on the safe side.
* I cleared the cache, hit Ctrl-F5, and tried in non-usual browsers (I have Chrome for other-sites testing, and had never gone to my MW install there before).

Nothing.

I can, incidentally, go to the http: link and see the favicon, so it's not like it's hiding from me or cased wrong or something.

What am I missing?

[eta] *eyeroll*  I'm not sure why I even bother posting.  I put the http: variable definition in LocalSettings, and it shows up fine.

I have a daft question, because I don't use OpenOffice but I'm using it now, and I don't have the time to track this down and verify it.  (I'm in the zone.)

Is there a way of making notes around text, much like one can add comments to cells in Excel?  Ideally, can I also find these notes easily later, somehow?

I'm writing up my presentation for work, and I have some things I want to note for testing before I go presenting it.

Gwar.

Outlook 2007, using IMAP (+SSL) for Rackspace emails.

In my Inbox, I assign a category to an email.  I then drag the email to a subfolder.  Whereupon the category is removed.

Why?

[eta] Oh.
