Xtina: ::burns it all::
Rose: can't you do some tomorrow night?
Xtina: Gaming is tomorrow night.
Xtina: I just emailed Brad to say I may not be able to make it for all of it.
Xtina: (We're drawing up characters.)
Xtina: BUT ALL THE YARN IS SEPARATED.
Xtina: "Unless you find more."  "Unless I find more."
Xtina: ...
Xtina: In the wreckage of this box, I found some more yarn.
Rose: "unless you find more."
Xtina: In my desk drawer-like thing?  Yarn.
Xtina: ::laughing helplessly::
Xtina: I'm going to undo the lamp and find yarn in it, I know it.
Rose: what else would go in a desk?
Rose: LOOK IN THE MATTRESS I'M TELLING YOU
Xtina: IT'S YARNING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE
Rose: REDYARN REDYARN REDYARN
Xtina: ::snickers and dies laughing::

Oh my god, there are things better than a spankin' new swift that winds yarn straight from the sweater, but I do not know them right now.

Woosh!  *woosh*

...why have I never considered shoe boxes for holding yarn before?

"There are two kinds of knitters in the world:
the sort who, upon finding that their yarn has
become as tangled as a teenage love triangle, would
sooner chew off their own arm than enjoy untangling
it; and the kind who will take that same mess of a
knot and not just sort it out but take a lot of pleasure
in restoring order. I'm not saying which is the better
trait, but I do think that the knitting world could
benefit from some sort of registry that would help
them find each other."
--Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

I'm sure Ravelry has something for this.  I'm just as sure, if not more than sure, that I need to be in on it.  I'm the latter sort - untangling things makes me deeply happy.

Relatedly, there's this gigantic tangle of holy-crap bubble-gum-pink yarn that is demanding to know why I haven't made it into a thneed yet.  I'm working on it, I swear.

Just not today.  Arms are like my brain - given to spurts of doom, that pass quickly if I avoid related stimuli.  And yet I'm here!  Hm.

- I got to be in my land again!  I mapped out why I could never get anywhere from this one direction (it was walled off, apparently - nobody tells me anything), and I got to go shopping a bit.  The store looks a bit different every time I go.  I can't recall off-hand what it was I bought.

- This-all is because I took valerian, I figure.  I'm slowly starting to consider it to be a gateway drug - that being, a drug that takes me through that gateway, waha.  It also only lets me sleep for about six hours before it wakes me right the fuck up.  I slept more, and now I am beyond tired.

- I think I'm going to donate a bunch of my one-skein-at-best balls of yarn to this local thrift store (that specifically asks for yarn).  It's not useful for much else, to be honest, but I don't want to throw it away...  Or I'll post it to Freecycle or something, who knows.

- I want to stay in this process of processing yarn.  Right now, I have one bunch ready to be washed, one ready to be skeinified, and a box that is slowly filling up with yarn.  Tonight, I'll bust out a grocery bag for the <1ball balls of yarn.  I am dedicated to an empty closet.

- I covet this swiftCovet.  That and a C-clamp.  COVET.

- Once I ever get a laptop that functions as a laptop, I'm idly contemplating turning this TV set I have (don't ask) into a just-a-movie-player thing, using my current busted-ass laptop and... whatever cables are involved.

- This Sunday, I'll be getting an actual bed!  With like a frame and everything!  More impetus to clean my room tomorrow.  It's otherwise fine, just cluttered with yarn, and I want to sweep a bit.  And then I'm getting more sweaters!  All this from [livejournal.com profile] trista, who (a) is awesome and (b) will be moving to town soon omg omg yay.

Mm, sneepy cat is sneepy.

I can't separate Dresden-the-books from Dresden-the-show.  I keep seeing elements from the book, done... mehly.  I can see all the stories that fuel the episodes, and so the episodes are kind of pale and loosely strung together.  And yet, I keep watching!  I am perplexed.

I have washed yet another batch of yarn.  Merino yarn feels mildly soapy even before soap.  Acrylic homespun stuff is simple - squeeze and go, no worry about felting.  I fret for my gorgeous periwinkle cotton yarn, but I knew I'd fret, so I threw a smallish hank in with the wash.  I'm using this eco-friendly mild-as-mild detergent and lukewarm water, then cool water to rinse.  I got permission to hang it all on the curtain rod overnight - after that point, I can usually safely put it on a plastic hanger somewhere.  I need to investigate, make sure I'm not doing something wrong, but it's going well.

Heee, back to WKRP.  *pats Hulu*  I like Andy.  And the Doctor.  I kind of almost want a mood icon set for this.  I'm sure it exists already.  I haven't looked yet.

...except the music is different.  ...?  Am I going to be very very irritated?

...

*irritated*

Tonight:

- Check on washed yarn.  Washing yarn creeps me out - I always worry I'm doing something wrong to the tune of ruining yarn aiee aiee doom.

- Go through closet and get out things for sale, then post them for sale.  Less for money, more for "Why do I have silverware I don't use?".  I'm either great or terrible at packratting, I'm not sure.

- Make burritos.  This time - refried beans, corn, rice, chopped-up brussel sprouts.  I don't know what's supposed to go into burritos, but that's what I want.  I may also make some baby lima beans and put those in, too.

- Work on this site.  Contact one person (finally, sigh), and install a comment system for another.

- Maybe put some contact info on CL for doing website stuff.  Why not?  Every little bit makes me happy.

The problem with really gorgeous, really soft yarn is twofold:

a) I am not a fashion person, so I fret it would be wasted on me.

b) What if I don't make the rightiest thing?

So I have two skeins of Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK, in rich, soft red.  Got it from a friend of Josh's.  I don't know!  So I'll make this, I think, and maybe give it to someone.  Or something.

I never want to make anything, I just want to make a big blanket out of all of it and loll about.

I want to make something out of the Midnight Black and Royal Blue colours, but hanged if I know what.

I don't have a hat, but I don't like any of the hair choices.  Apart from that, I am wearing exactly that.

I separated all my non-store yarn, and some store yarn.  I have two bins of "go away", one of "once I've frogged it, go away", and three bins of "mine mine".  This is ignoring the shoe holder upstairs that holds my store yarn that I have to review.  *cough*

*cough cough cough cough hack die*

I may cull more yarn out of my "mine mine" pile, but it is so pretty.  Why would I let lavendar ribbon yarn go on purpose?

I wish I knew what to do with umpteen pounds of chunky-weight wool.  I feel like I'm appreciating it without actually having a use for it.

- I picked up some T-pins today, for blocking later.  Blocking will be easier than I thought, which is a relief.  Today on awesome - having a half-sized ironing board.  (Thanks again, [livejournal.com profile] jasra!)  That way I can pin the pieces down one at a time, then prop it up on top of the dryer, away from the cats.

- This yarn is taunting me.  I really want to make a nice tank top for myself.  Curse you all, shades of blue!!  *whimperwhimperwant*  And it's only $1.98/skein!  At a running average of needing 500-600 yards (based on the 5 or so I liked from knitty.com), that comes to, what, $12-14?

*dies of want*

- Okay, okay, first I make this tank top with this lovely brown cotton faux-tape yarn I got from the Goodwill ages ago.  Or a skirt, I can't recall which I wanted.  I'm idly contemplating making a nice skirt, copper satin slip underneath this lovely brown knitted shell, and selling it on etsy.com, because I don't wear that stuff.

- I totally am getting a virtual machine dealie going with Microsoft Bob on it.  *glee*

- In other random news, and I SWEAR to you I'm not making this up - remember how I commented on this skull and crossbones thing having 13 sections?  Well, there are also 65 rows.  I didn't plan this!  *entertained*

Dear Crush:

I was not expecting to fall for you so hard.  Indeed, I wasn't expecting a new interest at all.  But you were so... unassuming and smooth, yet striking.  Simple, yet fascinating.  I am, I admit, enthralled.

You've intrigued me from the start.  I know it's a terrible cliché, but not a day goes by that I haven't thought about you.  When I first met you, I honestly thought you were out of my league.  But you were easy to approach, and I felt so comfortable interacting with you.  You're sophisticated in ways that I'm not, and I never even entertained the notion that I'd ever travel in your circles, but you are tempting me to broaden my boundaries.

I'm not good with words.  I just wanted to say that I adore you from afar, and maybe one day, I'll work up the nerve to take you out proper.  I'll find some way of proving that I deserve you.  I do hope you'll be patient with me.

Adoringly,
Xtina
