I am teaching myself PHP because I need to compare two completely different income reports, and I don't know enough PHP.

Alternate explanation: herp derp derp.

So I'm doing this project, and I was on a conference call yesterday with 6 other people, including Rose.  I told Josh about this.

X: A conference call!  Didn't I say I don't like the phone?  For heaven's sake.
J: Well, at least you got to hear your Rose, yeah?
X: *beams*  Yeah.
J: ...were you smiling like that whenever she'd speak?
X: ...*blush*
J: You were!
X: Shut up!
J: Ha ha ha aw, and you probably had those same dimples, too!
X: Shut up!  *blushing fiercely* *hides grin behind hand*
J: I can still see those dimples you know.  :D :D
X: Goddammit!
J: I love you, you're so cute!

Never mind, fuck it.  The blog and the site are on the same server, so it's xmlhttprequest for the win, and all RSS widgets can fucking burn in hell for all I care.

I want the latest WP blog posts to show up on a PHP front page.  It should not be this hard to get some sort of goddamn gadget going that parses an existing RSS link.  I'm trying this Google gadget, but it's not working.  It works when you go to that link, but when you click on "Add to your webpage", it shows nothing.

Compare that link (with XKCD) with the default for this gadget (using CNN).  And I tested using both the XKCD RSS and atom feed links.  Irritating.

I try Scalzi's feed with both feed=rss2 and and feed=rss, and it shows fine in the main page, but I get "Information is temporarily unavailable" in the "Add this" section.  Which is a lie; I can see his posts in my Google Reader just fine.

Is there something out there that does this for me, in a similar but working fashion?  Or can someone make the above work?
