This is me doing that xposting thing, now with the LJ account ticked and the xpost box not.

Also, I notice that when I do <lj user=news>, it changes to [site community profile] dw_news.  Awww bless.  I love clever things.

It just now occurred to me to look at this "crosspost" option on the update page.  I assumed it was for posting to other communities, and so didn't look at it at all.  Silly X!

So, this here is a test of Dreamwidth's crossposting feature.  I already know it works, as [personal profile] synecdochic has been using it - when I say "test" and am referring to here, I mean more like "I've never used this and so want to make sure I'm doing it right".

If I am well pleased with this, this will totally aid my moving over to DW entirely.

Actually, now I'm curious as to what happens if I tick "Crosspost this Entry" and select no accounts.  Seems a bit odd to have that be its own tickybox, when there are tickyboxen for each of the crossposted accounts.

[eta] Either it goes slowly, or it is not crossposted at all.  Sooo, let's edit the post and tick my LJ account's item.

[eta2] Hm.  Welp, I dunno!  I hear this feature is still in alpha.  I'll go check [site community profile] dw_news posts to see what I can see.

I am testing a thing.

In miscellaneous news, Windows Vista 64-bit can burn in hell.  Nrr.  Or maybe Pidgin!  Nrr regardless.

[eta] Yep.  So if you have the GM script LJ: time updater* installed, you can just add http://www.dreamwidth.org/update.bml* to the includes list, and it'll work for DW.

* This automatically updates the time on a post when posting.  So if I start a post at 08:20, and then post it at 09:25, it updates the time fields before posting.

I wonder if that'd be a worthwhile suggestion to make.

Actually, unless I can find instructions on how to contribute to beta-testing (or at least see what bugs they have, or something), I may leave DW alone until it's in open beta.  Or can I beta-test now?  I am unclear.

(I will be reading the wiki to see what's what.  It's entirely possible I'm too scattered to find the information just yet.)

For argh, I have run into minor yet annoying things, and I really want to see if they've already been logged for future fixing, or whether I should log them, or what.  Like text-only DW emails about "bob granted access to your journal!" aren't well-formed, or logging out on the "You've just added someone yay!" page results in an error.

([eta] Actually, it might be HTML emails sent to a text-only account.  I use Pine for my email, so.  Hm.)

These aren't showstoppers, and I don't actually believe no one has caught them yet.  I just do testing like breathing, and seeing things be wrong make my teeth itch.

Alas!  I shall be patient.  And I shall go revamp my LJ Profile Reset script to work for DW, because hey, some people like the older profile, plus it gives me something to do when I'm bored.
