Adhesive allergy, probably.
Feb. 16th, 2014 10:26 pmI tested four different types of band-aids: normal, waterproof, dot, and flexible. I placed them on the soft underbelly of my arm. Of these, the dot one (for cat claw puncture wounds) was the least offensive, but all of them itched to some degree. I think the dot one was minimally terrible because it has the lowest surface area of the four.
I probably don't have a latex allergy for two main reasons: 1) I'd have known about it by now through other means, and 2) at least 3 out of 4 of the band-aids were latex-free.
It's no big deal to me. When I'm at a blood donation or hospital-type thing, I just ask for that self-adhering tape-like product, no sweat. The itching is annoying, but not terrible; it goes away after 10-15 minutes.
I figured that I was allergic, it's just nice to actually do a bit of testing.
