Can someone please explain to me how on earth people confuse "invoice" or "bill" with "receipt"?

Nfffffffff I do it ALL THE TIME and I'm not saying it makes sense but it's like the way "general" and "lieutenant" and "commander" and "sergeant" all sound the same to me even though they are wildly different because they're all *handwave* military words? *Handwave* financial things.

Easy to do if you don't really deal with invoices in your daily life and therefore don't know what the word means.

"It's all stuff to do with a financial transaction right?"

I note there aren't any classes on this in high school or college, although if one did a finance or business degree it would be difficult to complete it without picking up these terms.

It's a form you give people that says how much money they [should|did] give you. Really, you could say that only the timing is different.
