Argh computer.  Just put this box together, god knows how, and I get 8 beeps.  Pluggified in, the monitor goes from the at-rest orange flashing to a brief spurt of on-ness, and then goes back to rest again.

Hmm. It's trying to tell you something. The motherboard manual should tell you what the 8 beeps mean. Also check that all boards are firmly socketed and that all connections are secure.
