In other news, can someone explain to me why it is that SSIS in SQL Server 2005 can't see MySQL, but DTS in SQL Server 2000 absolutely can?

more seriously, well, SSIS does *many* things differently than DTS, mostly subtly so. OLE DB Provider settings are the most likely cause. Linked Server configuration next.
presuming both SSIS and DTS are running on the same PC, that is, so your MySQL permissions aren't coming into play (because MySQL uses the troika of UID, PWD, *and* client IP)...
