* [WinVista] When you Alt-Tab in Vista, you get to see thumbnail previews of the windows you have open. If they're too small, you can increase the size a bit.
* [WinVista] News: "Under the agreement, Microsoft also promised to provide additional technical information to third-party developers, such as Google, in order to optimize the performance of their desktop search service on Vista. ... The changes stem from a complaint Google filed with the Justice Department in December, in which it argued that a feature built into Vista that allows users to search a computer's hard drive did not leave room for competition from other desktop search applications."
* [Windows] tag2find: "tag2find helps you to find everything on your desktop by simply using tags. Directories & folders were the structure of the 20th century. Now it's time for something new - TAG IT!" Oh my shit, awesome.
* [WinXP] RunMe: You know how in Vista, there's the SideBar? Well. Freeware, &c.
* Word processor review.
* *snort* Make a laptop sleeve out of a FedEx envelope.
* [Mac] WhatSize: "WhatSize is a simple tool that allows the user to quickly measure the size in bytes of a given folder and all subfolders and files within it. You would be surprised at how many useless files might be laying around on your hard disks. The files and folders are automatically sorted by size, with the biggest sizes first."
* [Firefox] MeeTimer: "MeeTimer has a simple role: it records where you spend your time online. It does it in a rather useful way, by allowing you to group websites into activities (e.g. Facebook = procrastination; Gmail = communication) so you can make sense of where your time is going. Finally, it accumulates time spent on a site over the course of a day, so when you think "just another 2 mins won't hurt" you realise that actually, yes, it will ;)"
