There's a dentist office 8 floors down from me that takes my insurance.
Well, okay then.
(I have an appointment for next Monday. Now, how to last... acetaminophen?)

Date: 2007-06-20 05:20 pm (UTC)I was at the dentist yesterday and the tech had a very bad day. A two-hour appointment stretched just past three hours as she struggled to use an emery wheel to some shaping that really needed a diamond burr. The dentist came in, snatched it from her, and was done in four minutes.
She was so nervous and anxious and insecure, I didn't want to make her life more difficult, so I endured quietly but oh dang, endured really is the only word for it.
Better luck to you!

Date: 2007-06-20 05:35 pm (UTC)Other advice is the over-the-counter tooth numbing stuff if the pain is centered enough for that to work. Like...if it's just general "whole section of gum" that's not going to work but if you can say "it's this place on my gum, this tooth" it might would work or in absence of that stuff, taking an aspirin (only aspirin, not tylenol or whathaveyou) and putting it directly on the tooth/gum that hurts, letting it dissolve. Tastes nasty, but might help the pain quicker.

Thanks for the reminder!

Date: 2007-06-20 06:15 pm (UTC)I went out and bought a huge fucking bottle, I tell ya. Aspirin isn't generally good for the long haul, but DAMN it kicks ass if your stomach can handle it (take with food, definitely)

Date: 2007-06-21 04:29 am (UTC)Something with an anti-inflammatory effect may be better. Aspirin if your stomach doesn't mind it, ibuprofen (gel caps easier on stomach than hard pills), Aleve...

Also, if you can drink a little whiskey, I advise it.
