nonethefewer: In Case Of Men SMASH PATRIARCHY (feminism)
I now realise that sometimes, sometimes, Twitter has some awesome shit.

To be judged on my record of tyranny, oppression and turning innocent creatures to stone, not my gender. #FeministWishList

Synopsis:

Andrew Breitbert maliciously edited breitberted a video that Shirley Sherrod made, to make her out to be racist.  She subsequently resigned.

This is, approximately, bullshit.

So, Amanda Marcotte of Pandagon started up a Twitter thing: "The hash tag is #ifandrewbreitbarteditedit, and the idea is to drive home that you can't believe everything you hear in heavily edited videos."

Oh god, some of these tweets are hilarious.  My favourite so far is by arensb: "Lord of the Rings: a thief's nephew grows up to be a fifth-columnist."  Also: ""Some Like It Hot" is a cautionary tale about predatory cross dressers."

Pass it on!

This is the best possible thing ever:

Christopher Walken's Twitter

"I don't remember saying that the geese had eaten all of the kittens in Central Park. No matter. She's upset and the geese are very confused."

"Ashton Kutcher. That's his name. He pushed Obama over the top just as he singlehandedly inspired a generation to wear scarves needlessly."

"There's a kid on a Pogo stick in front of my house. It's nearly midnight so let's assume he's been drinking. This should end well for him."

* I feel like my sinuses are draining, but they're not.  This is beyond peculiar.

* Spending time with Josh was just right.  Cheered me right up.

* I really need to go to a dentist.  :( :(  I hate this crap so much.  And yet, I can't not go...  As in, it would be a terrible idea to not go.  On the bright side, I'm flossing more.

* For those of you who hate LoudTwitter entirely, try this Greasemonkey script.  If you just don't like the one-sided IM convo aspect (the @replies), try this script.

As I do have a couple of people whose LT posts are not uninteresting, I like the latter script.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ijk for spurring me on to make it!  Bonus of bonuses, the latter is not restricted to LJ or your friend's list, so even when you click on an lj-cut to view twits, you won't see @replies.

* Yeah, today I'm going to go to the gym and do something walking-like - elliptical, treadmill, maybe a bicycle, something like that.  That way, I can watch others and see how it all goes.  This is a compromise with my anxiety - it will let me go to the gym by myself for the first time in front of people I don't know, if I will do something simple and watch others first, and also maybe ask someone at the front desk about things like "Where are the cleaning things?" and "Are there lists for signing up for things? What?" and so forth.

* I reported the Pandora issue.  Seems it's just a display issue (that the thumbs up is not displaying), and they'll have it fixed soon.  I am no longer concerned, no worries.  My main issue was not knowing whether songs were being saved, so that's resolved and I'm fine.

* Via [livejournal.com profile] juliansinger: Phelps-A-Thon!  Phelps is showing up to Boston, MA, to protest the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, apparently because it has a gay/straight alliance.  So PAT is asking for a pledge of some amount for every minute that Phelps protests.  Bonus: they'll send Phelps a thank-you card after.

When I bother to think of Phelps, mostly I just hope he is some seriously advanced gay rights awareness-raiser.  That helps me sleep at night.

Via [livejournal.com profile] ethernight, I find the only Twitter thing I'll ever want to read.

KITTY.

This is me keeping track of the node information for various LJ styles.  Public so others can see; cut because it's long.

The LJ Twitterless script has been updated!  Now it will remove posts if you're using the Expressive or Mixit styles.  If you don't know which kind you have off-hand, view the source for your or your friends list page, look for a post, then compare the code to the stuff on the script page.  I grabbed sample post code from a couple of LJ-styles that I wanted to work on, so.

I left in (commented out) the code to remove the bullet-pointed list.  So if you're not using one of those two styles, you can still remove loudtwitterthings.

Ahahahahahahaha.

My basic scripts interfere with the FF addon LiveJournal Addons.  How annoying.  I may send a thing to the addon creator and ask them to maybe include versions of my scripts in a future version.  (Only improved - see also "X don' know Javascript".)

For lo, what's more important is the lack of 405px of fucking dead space on my friends list and never seeing twits again, not that I'm the one making it happen.

As an Xmas gift to myself, I wrote a Greasemonkey script that removes LoudTwitter posts' content (not the entire post, but I'm getting there), and I'm writing one now that replaces YouTube placeholder blocks with a link to the YouTube video, sort of.  I already have version 1 up, which just gets rid of the sizing element iff placeholders are enabled.

The former means I can repopulate my default view.  The latter means I won't have gaping chunks of emptiness on my friends list.

Later, I'll learn enough about Javascript so I can get the scripts to run a leetl faster.  *cough*
