Oh yea, ANSI graphics. Talk about a blast from the past :) I'm using a multicolored one for my cygwin prompts. I'll have to see if I can do the same for the servers. It's a good idea.

Oh, and my normal server prompt (not root) is:

PS1="`uname`:`hostname|cut -f1 -d.`$ "; export PS1

yeah, a lot of distros do that by default. it's an excellent practice.
