Dumb question o'clock, regarding LJ comment notifications.

I receive them as text emails.  I also receive them as messages.  I hate this, and want to only get emails.  I checked the Manage Message Settings page, and it gives me the options of email, TxtLJ, and IM.

My questions:

1) How can I set it so that I only receive emails for comment notifications?
2) Why the living hell is it set to both the message inbox and email?  (Assuming that one has email.)  Like, what's the point of that?

OK, on that page, turn "Someone comments on my journal" OFF (front check box, not the one under "email"). Then on this page, make sure "Receive email notifications when others comment" and "Receive email copies of comments you make" are ON.

PS: Re 2, I have no idea.

Dude. I have the same problem. I can't stand having a brazillion messages in my LJ inbox, because I never, ever, ever look there. Every month or so I'll go through page by page and delete them all because... well, just because.

If you find a way to work around it, for birthday notices and poll responses as well, please let me know.
