Links and one-liners.

* On breasts and breast cancer.  Among other things: "You see, October is not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I spend a lot of time checking out the news, and I’ve only seen it come up once or twice. I forgot that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month because there are pink ribbons and boobs everywhere, and no one talking about the totally un-sexy women with bruises."

* Relatedly, via [livejournal.com profile] strangestgirl: Think Before You Pink

* The cats are STARING at this squirrel outside the window.

* On the one hand, I can see how people would take it personally that I hate the phone.  On the other hand, I hate the phone like I hate people touching me without explicit invitation.  Oh the quandary.

* Another quandary: I like my rock music and coming across as all grr and things, but I love this song to pieces.

* The Quagmire of Masculinity

* Little-known thing: I conflated a Taco Bell commercial jingle and a Commander Keen game ages ago.  Now it's "Make a ruuun for the Border (Village)".

* I was going to post about the differences between "I am irritable" and "If something bugs me even a little, I want to freeze the irritant in liquid nitrogen so I can shatter it on the goddamn wall", but I got stuck in a stuff'n'things shop down around 16th and Hawthorne, and now I'm all cheered up a bit.

* Relatedly, I saw a welder's mask and totally thought of [livejournal.com profile] regyt.  And it's only $12!  Hmm.

And now, back to watching "The Five Doctors", eee eee eee.

I know!

Would you want it?  I mean, I don't want to unintentionally clutter your place more than it needs to be.

It's awfully, awfully tempting. But the only place I go to weld loans out welding masks, so I don't actually need it. I really, really appreciate the thought, though.

I am inscrutably pleased that your life is such that you'd have a use for it, and that I knew this enough to be tempted to get it for you.

That made more sense in my head.  That's probably where the lack of scrute came from.

Breasts and women's health

...and heart disease is a bigger killer of women than is breast cancer. It just doesn't have breasts in it.

It makes me slightly nuts.

But men get heart disease, too, so you can't market heart disease as a "women's disease".

And men get breast cancer, too, though it's rare, and even more rarely spoken of. (I suspect it's so rarely spoken of because thinking of men with breast cancer isn't particularly sexy.)
