Changing license from one state to another is typically very easy. Depending on the state, you bring your old state's driver's license and either proof of residence or proof of residency, and you're out in 5-30 minutes, depending on the line. My first driver's license was from AZ, and changing it to NY I had to bring a certain number of "points" proving I resided in NY state (I did not have to prove residency, that is citizenship or green card status) and turned in the AZ driver's license, and then to change that to MA I turned in my NY driver's license and proved residency (though MA does require proving citizenship/green card status, in my recollection it was easier to prove this to MA than proving simple residence was to NY).
