Allergies.

Seems I'm allergic to ragweed, most grasses, a couple of types of tree, and dust mites. This is why every so often I completely lose it due to all the UNHOLY ITCHING.

Found this out via going to an allergist during my lunch hour. I like this allergist. He talks about as fast as I do!

I'm taking cyproheptadine, to see if that helps, per the doctor. So far, I am sort of drunk with dizziness.

But! I know it's not psychosomatic, and I'm not making it up. So yay for that. The worst part was the skin test: CN: needles. ) At first, I noted a slight itch off to the side, which could have been my mind playing tricks on me. By the time the doc came back, I was calling him an unholy medieval torture artist. I DIES. WOE.

But! I'm not allergic to cats, which is a fine thing.

ITCHING

Welp. I just took my meds, I'm drastically underslept, things are moving already, and now the itching starts.

Time to go chug a bottle of NyQuil or something. Fuck.

The minuscule ants and their needle-knives are on the warpath again.

When I get itchy like this, all of my patience goes right out the window.  Apparently, it requires patience to spend quiet time with someone when they're in an out-loud-voice sorta mood.  So, now I know -- when I am itchy, get away from persons.

I am bruising myself from the scratching.

FINE

FINE

I WILL DO THIS ELIMINATION DIET THING

SEE IF I CARE

I had a microwave meal thing to eat, and now everything fucking completely fucking itches.  My dangly earring against my neck is making my neck itch.

So, fuck it, fine.  I'll put together a menu for the next month or so, and will eat just from that, and everything else can go fuck itself.

It feels like someone has put itching powder in my clothes for two days straight.  This is making me Very Irritable.

I have not changed my detergent, dryer sheets, or body wash in this time period.

I have been sleeping like pure-D crap this week, I swear.

I'm sure it's better for me to go back to bed soon, but mostly I want to eat mashed potatos and read crap on the internet.

Such problems I have, &c &c.

[eta] You remember that sort of insomnia montage, where part of it involves a leaky faucet and a pan?

Try a creaky apartment, or dripping something, or SOME damn thing, right outside the window.

Today's going to be spectacular.

Huh.  I appear to have actually marked my face, with some of the scratching I was doing yesterday.  Intriguing.

Are there any non-general criteria I should be looking for in an allergist?  (General prerequisites are things like "doesn't condescend to me" and "listens to me when I tell them something".)

I am going to fall over and die of being itchy.  Fall over.  And die.  Of being itchy.  *is dead*

So everything has an added 150% chance of being very irritating, and I just took a Benadryl so I'll stop scratching, and yet I'm going to pass out in a few minutes.  Fuck.

(I went to run my hands under some cold water.  The water that would run over my arms?  That specifically would splash a little bit over my arms?  Made my arms itch.  Not the water itself, rather the splashing.  *gnshghsjuwg*)

On the bright side, my arms are doing way better.  I'm trying to keep them that way.

[livejournal.com profile] kathrynt gave me a word yesterday: dermographia!!  I finally have a word for this!

I should have known there'd be one, but nearly every time I'd mention this thing I have to someone, I'd get "Well, just don't scratch".  Grr.

So yeah.  That there is why I take a Benadryl every night.

Here's a big list of reasons why I should get to bed by like 10p:

- I get itchier the later it gets.  (Reason: anonymous allergy.  Think hives.)
- Magic decided to be finicky about her litterbox.  Also about the litterbox downstairs.  And she was loud about it.  Oh yes.
- Due to my back hating me and all life, I had to sleep on my side, with a pillow 'twixt my knees (to keep 'em from knocking together).  I sleep on my stomach.  This was wholly unnatural to me.
- The aggravation of each contributed to the aggravation of the others, and the whole of things.  (So itchy aggravated me, which got me reacting worse to Magic being whiny, which meant I couldn't get comfortable, which... and so forth.)

At least if I go to bed at 10p, I have a couple of hours to react to this stuff, while still getting more than three hours of sleep.

Today I am itchy and I need to take my contacts out.

This is leading to me being

very
very
very
irritable.

I hate itching.
