One great thing about reading science fiction/horror is that it makes planning for future security issues so much more thorough.

Today's lesson: If you have a field set up in the breach between your world and a parallel world's, and part of that field contains a special device set to exterminate live things without damaging them, put in a failsafe to also kill the unliving.
