Reason: I have a car worth, maybe, $1200, which now requires $850 in repairs. And yet I am doing it, for reasons that don't seem entirely clear to me but come down to something like this "where would I be able to find a $850 car?"

Could you get $350 for the car as it is?

Probably not. It doesn't really work. They have to make repairs to the trasmission.

Oh, and while the bluebook value of my car is around $1200, the used car dealerships will only stock cars as low as around $3000 - $5000. I could borrow, of course, or tap into savings, but I would rather not do that. It is possible I could buy a used car directly in the $1000-1500 range, but I might still end up having to put money into repairing it.
