Colon love.

Thought: Baking something for my therp.

Restriction: He's vegan.

Idea: Banana bread?

Why?: Because my cookies are meh, honestly, and I've never loved brownies.

Recipe:

Strikethrown replacements are the vegan analogue, so far as I can find.  Input welcome.

2c flour
3/8 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2c shortening
1/2c sugar
2 eggs 2 tbsp flax seeds, 6 tbsp water
2-3 bananananas
2 tbsp milk almond milk

Bowl 1: first 4
Bowl 2: last 2
Big Bowl: middle 3, then blend the other two bowls in

Oven: 350°F
Time: Until a toothpick == clean.

This leaves me with the fun of finding an oven knob replacement, since the numbers are all gone on ours.  That or the next time B cooks a pizza, I get an oven thermometer.

I have nothing useful; I just want to say that I find this totally charming and that banana bread sounds like a good choice. I've never attempted a vegan version, and the flax seeds thing is new to me; I'd love to know how it turns out.
